Here are some pictures from the first day we were there, other than flying.

On the first day, me and Amy, Rebecca's daughter, went out early to say hi to some of the kids in the village we were stayin in. These kids were all playing together, outside, when it wasn't so hot yet. But it was still about the same as Boise during the day.

This is a little path on the side of the village, to get to the houses higher up.

This is Amy and a family in the village.

Dominican Republic Blog ~ Numero Uno!

Okay so, my mom had me make this blog so I can tell everyone about what I thought about the whole trip, because some people were apparently dissapointed with my minimal bloggage. So I will try to remember everything as bestest as I possibly can without leaving out everything. There were 3 other people from our neighborhood who were flying into the D.R. on the same flight as me, Josh, Jaclyn, and Nicole, and then Rebecca Maesato, the founder of the foundation for Children in Need, her daughter Amy, and her friend Ria, met us in Salt Lake and flew with us.
The very first thing to be said about the trip, is the plane ride over. It was quite eventful starting at the very beginning. We got to the airport, my mom, dad, and me, ontime and ready to go for our 2:30 flight, or something like that, until Rebecca, the person who was taking us on the trip, shows up saying, "Our flight's been cancelled you guys, but don't worry, we're on one about an hour earlier, so let's go." We all immediately started pushing our tubs, ( we had 14 tubs full of hygiene kits/clothes, two each, that we were checking.) towards the checkout counter. We got through security without a problem, and landed in Dallas a couple hours later. We got through Dallas without a problem, landed in miami, and went to our hotel just fine, the next day things got worse.
We took a bus/shuttle thing to the airport from the hotel, but we could only fit about 8 of the tubs, so once we got there, Josh and Rebecca turned right back around and got the rest of the tubs. But when we got inside, it turned out there was an embargo, and we weren't allowed to bring "boxes" which apparently rubbermaid bins count as "boxes." So we had to buy 14 black duffel bags,(thankfully they were only $7 for each duffel bag, which is way cheap at an airport) and dump the contents of each rubbermaid bin into the bags. WE were completely convinced we were going to miss our flight, but then it got delayed from 1:10 to 2:40, so we made it to Santo domingo, then met up with the Clegs, a family from Eagle, with Doug, the dad, Jillian, 13, and Emily 11. Doug went to get the rental cars, and we didn't see him for another hour. then after finally getting in the car, we drove at first for two hours in the completely opposite direction, then turned around and finally made it to where we were staying at 4:00 in the morning. That is the first two days of our trip.
